Stat Bat

RED (RogersEckersley Design) recently came up with a new way of exploring information graphics at the intersection of sports and design. Their “stat bat” idea displays the top 10 all-time hits leaders engraved directly onto the surface of a baseball bat. Once they had explored some initial sketches the studio partnered with a shop in Minnesota to help craft their vision. The results are pretty eye-catching and present a great way of getting fans of America’s greatest game interested in history and stats. Nike even took notice and asked the firm to make a series of aluminum ones for the College World Series in Omaha. More pics over here.

Be@rbrick X Ultravelvet Collection

Be@rbrick X Ultravelvet Collection

Last night I ventured down to Robertson to check out the Be@rbrick X Ultravelvet collection at Guy Hepner Gallery with my child hood friend and Commune Architectural monster, Chris.. While I was thoroughly un impressed with the event, and can only spend a few minutes looking at a collection of 30 or so Be@rbricks on a single wall next to some bad knock off art, I was pleased to see my friend, filthy ex-con, and all around 4 square champ, Mr. Rob Heppler.. While enjoying the finer part of the evening, the free drinks, we got to chop it up and talk a bit about art, design and our friend Corys beard..

Influence

Influence

We find influence in many different areas here at JM.. One of my favorite shows and authentic personalities on television is Anthony Bourdain and his show No Reservations. I just came across an interview with him in swindle magazines Icons issue from 09′ and thought it was fitting as I watched yet another episode of No Reservations.

THANK YOU FLYING KITES.

THANK YOU FLYING KITES.

Sometimes in the midst of work, life and all around craziness, you loose sight or forget about the basis of life, humanity and being a good person. From time to time you will have an eye opening experience, meet someone new that enlightens you or just have a good quality conversation that brings you back to earth. We are lucky enough to have the folks at Flying Kites. Every now and then we will receive  pictures from their travels that remind us why we do what we do. All the warm smiles and positivity that radiates from their mission always have a lasting effect on me and changes my day.  Thank you all once again for constantly making the world a better place and keeping us in the loop!
