Michael Rock/2×4 at Rutgers

A few weeks ago I went over to the Mason Gross School of the Arts (Rutgers) for a lecture by 2×4 founder Michael Rock. 2×4 is easily one of my favorite design studios. Even as a student, I was always impressed by just how smart and beautiful their work was. Needless to say, it was packed—standing room only. I took a lot from the lecture, not the least of which was learning that they’re currently working on a video with Kanye West for Cannes either. By the way Hypebeast, it looks like it’s going to be amazing. I don’t want to give too much away, but there will be cars and the entire thing will probably be projected.

Around the world: @TomMedvedich

Our good friend and confidant Mr. Tom Medvedich AKA Diamond Tooth AKA The Tattooed Man AKA Everyday im hustlin AKA Monster Medvedich AKA your sisters favorite photographer AKA your mothers favorite fragrance AKA The man in your nightmares sent us a little photo enjoying one of the most beautiful places in the world apparently without a care in the world. Im sure a few bottles of exotic tequilas or rosé were enjoyed on the beach either before or after this photo was taken while he avoided looking at saggy old lady tits as if they were a bad accident..  you know you dont want to look, but sometimes you just have to..

Either way, Tom is rocking one of our summer releases which will be out sooner than you think. Safe travels Tommy and thanks for making us all wish we were somewhere else. See you again soon my friend!

If you have a photo of yourself wearing Jamie Marx somewhere interesting in the world.. Send it over to info@jamiemarx.com and we will post you up on our bloggy blog and maybe even send you a little something in return.

Holi

Monday mornings can be a little rough. Here’s an amazing little video I came across that should brighten up your Monday. It’s of the Hindu spring festival Holi, renowned for it’s brightly colored powders that festival-goers throw at each other.

Allan Hill

Allan Hill lives in Detroit. To be more specific he has actually taken up residence in an abandoned Packard factory. Lost & Found Films has a produced a series of videos called This Must Be The Place “that explore the idea of home; what makes them, how they represent us, why we need them.”

Stat Bat

RED (RogersEckersley Design) recently came up with a new way of exploring information graphics at the intersection of sports and design. Their “stat bat” idea displays the top 10 all-time hits leaders engraved directly onto the surface of a baseball bat. Once they had explored some initial sketches the studio partnered with a shop in Minnesota to help craft their vision. The results are pretty eye-catching and present a great way of getting fans of America’s greatest game interested in history and stats. Nike even took notice and asked the firm to make a series of aluminum ones for the College World Series in Omaha. More pics over here.
